Gemma is an IACP-accredited Psychotherapist who joined the Imagine Health team in 2024.  With an honours degree in Counselling and Psychotherapy, Gemma possesses a strong foundation in therapeutic theory and practice. She has further enriched her toolkit with training in Sensorimotor Psychotherapy, a modality that explores the mind-body connection in healing, particularly relevant for clients who have experienced trauma. Additionally, Gemma’s expertise extends to Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), equipping her to address negative thought patterns that contribute to emotional distress. This blend of qualifications positions Gemma as a well-rounded therapist prepared to offer clients a personalized and comprehensive path toward healing and growth.

Gemma’s therapeutic journey has been enriched by working with a diverse range of clients each grappling with their own unique set of emotional and stressful experiences. She has adeptly navigated challenges alongside clients facing anxiety, depression, trauma, self-esteem challenges, and relationship issues. Gemma’s ability to tailor her approach to each client’s needs ensures they receive the most effective support on their path towards healing and growth.

Gemma’s interest in therapy extends to a particular fascination with the transformative experience of motherhood.  Witnessing the profound journey of “matrescence”, the psychological and emotional changes a woman goes through when becoming a mother, has deeply impacted her. She is passionate about providing a supportive space for women to explore the emotional, social, and psychological transformations that accompany motherhood in order to empower women to navigate the complexities and profoundness of motherhood.

Gemma’s passion for well-being extends far beyond the therapy room. Gemma is fascinated with the body’s inherent capacity to heal, a philosophy that spills over into her personal life.  Gemma believes in nurturing the body’s natural resources which extends to her interest in the healing power of food.  She enjoys exploring how lifestyle choices can influence emotional and physical well-being.
